Closest to the George R. Brown Convention Center

  • Discovery Green – Located steps away from the convention center, Discovery Green is widely renowned as one of the nation’s most innovative urban parks. The park’s 12-acres boasts of restaurants, playgrounds, art installations, open-air games, picnic areas, and more!

  • Houston Toyota Center – Home to the Houston Rockets, the Toyota Center also hosts the nation’s top concerts and touring shows and is a quick walk from the convention center.
  • Minute Maid Park – On the opposite side of the convention center from the Houston Toyota Center, this retractable roof ballpark is the home of the Houston Astro’s baseball team.
  • Altitude Rooftop and Pool – Float along a Texas-shaped lazy river or relax at the infinity pool on the 6th floor of the Marriott Marquis Houston. Enjoy views of the downtown Houston skyline while eating at the poolside restaurant.

  • Hermann Park – This 445-acre urban park was recently named one of America’s great public spaces by the American Planning Association. Some of the many attractions and activities in Hermann Park include visiting the McGovern Centennial or Japanese Gardens, riding the Hermann Park Railroad or Pedal Boats, and attending a free show at the Miller Outdoor Theater. Hermann Park is a short 3-mile drive from the convention center.

  • Houston’s Children Museum – Play and learn in the museum’s 90,000 square feet filled with innovative and interactive bilingual exhibits for children up to 12 years old. The Houston’s Children Museum is located close to Hermann Park 3 miles away from the convention center. 
  • Houston Zoo – Often voted one of the top zoos in the United States, this 55-acre zoo is located 4.2 miles from the convention center. Open daily from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Houston Arboretum & Nature Center – For a break from the city, visit this 155-acre urban nature sanctuary just 10 miles from the convention center. Visitors can stroll the center’s five miles of trails free of charge from 7:00 AM – dusk daily.
  • Space Center Houston – This museum serves as the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center. A leading space and science exploration center, it is located 25 miles away from the convention center.
